If they like wildlife exploring, rock-pooling and digging sandcastles on one of the best beaches in Scotland then Dunbar is the answer. Dunbar is blessed with rugged coastline and expansive beaches and the North Sea stretches as far as the eye can see. Kids can easily get involved in the great outdoors in Dunbar.
And just outside of Dunbar is the brilliant East Links Family Park. A 20 acre farm-themed adventure park providing a fun day out for all the family. The train safari takes visitors through the paddocks of friendly farm animals and in the small animals barn visitors can get up close to rabbits, guinea pigs and chicks. There is endless fun for all ages including a hay barn, giant Fortress, ball blast arena and crazy golf course.

What about the adults?
Dunbar is home to local museums, craft shops and High Street cafes which will provide a welcome sanctuary for the parents when they need a caffeine pitstop. And if you want to include some education on your family weekend get away, then Dunbar is steeped in history. And there is much evidence of this to be seen in its High Street, Closes, Harbour and Castle (yes that’s right – Dunbar has a castle as well). John Muir, the American naturalist and explorer grew up here and the community of the town that he knew has developed and is reflected into a vibrant cultural scene.
