At East of Scotland Microlights our priority is for you to have a safe and exciting flight over our beautiful East Lothian countryside. It’s an amazing way to see the fabulous beaches, miles of golf courses and the incredible Bass Rock, home of the largest island gannet-colony in the world – from above! You can sometimes even fly over Edinburgh city centre and the iconic bridges over the River Forth, depending on getting permission from Air Traffic Control at Edinburgh airport.
On arrival at our airfield you will be greeted by one of our highly experienced instructors who will get you kitted up in a cosy flying suit and a comfortable helmet with an intercom so that he can speak to you while you are airborne.
He’ll give you a full briefing at the aircraft before you take to the skies for an exhilarating but absolutely safe flying experience. There is no set route so, depending on the length of flight you have chosen, you can either head inland over the Lammermuir hills, or do a tour of the coastline – or both! Your instructor will be able to give you a commentary on what you are seeing below you, with interesting facts and stories about the local landmarks.
Back on the ground, we have a lovely decked area and a visitors’ caravan where your family and friends can wait for you, waving to you as you fly overhead.
Being a flying activity, we are sadly subject to the vagaries of the Scottish weather and though we fly in as many conditions as we can, we must always put safety first so if the wind is too strong, the rain too heavy or if there is fog, then we may need to postpone your flight.
