Family holidays with older kids can always be a bit tricky. They are no longer interested in sand castles and playparks and more interested in the latest happenings on social media.
But this October Week it can be different with a family holiday to Dunbar. The combination of indoor, outdoor, educational and sport related activities in Dunbar means that come rain or shine, you will be entertained. Regardless of their age.
Watersports
If your kids are fans of Water sports then Dunbar is a great place to go for your holiday. The water is still warm enough to get some Wake boarding in at Foxlake while the waves in the sea itself are generally the best around Autumn and Winter for those wanting to head over to Coast2Coast or Ocean Vertical for some surfing. There is also Coasteering, stand up paddle boarding and kite surfing fun to be had.
Fresh Air
The older the kids get, the less fresh air they seem to want. But in Dunbar, you have the great outdoors at your fingertips. Family cycle trips and more adventurous cycling challenges are available so the kids can get muddy with some off road biking. There are also Zip Trails, Segway Off-road treks, Tennis, Golf and even Disc Golf to keep everyone entertained in the fresh air this October Week. And because you are on the East Coast, you get more sunshine thrown into the mix as well.
History & Culture
It may be the School Holidays but that doesn’t mean you can’t sneak some extra learning in during the October break. Take your kids on a historic and cultural journey of Scotland’s past in Dunbar. It is steeped in history and there is much evidence of this to be seen in its High Street, Closes, Harbour and Castle. John Muir, the American naturalist and explorer grew up here and the community of the town that he knew has developed and is reflected in a vibrant cultural scene.
