You can explore the full range of things to do with young kids in Dunbar by clicking here. But to give you a sample of some of the more popular options, we have listed a few below.
WILDLIFE EXPLORING
From short informative wildlife walks to day long wildlife tours, the Countryside Ranger Service in East Lothian can help your kids discover the natural world around Dunbar. Let your children get up close with nature in this beautiful Scottish countryside.
ROCKPOOLING
Who didn’t love rock pooling when they were a kid? An now your kids can follow in your footsteps and be entertained as they discover an abundance of life in the little rock pools that form when the tide goes out on East Beach. Spot little fish, prawns, crabs and seaweed right on the North Sea shoreline. The rocks can be slippery so obviously take care and remember not to harm any of the sea life.
TREASURE TRAIL
A murder mystery treasure trail self guided route that allows you to explore the history of Dunbar while your kids work as a team to solve clues along the way. The booklet can be downloaded here.
PLAY PARKS
Just off the high street within the beautiful walled garden space of Lauderdale Park is an excellent kids playpark with a lovely cafe so you get the best of both worlds. The kids have something to do and you can recharge with a delicious dose of caffeine. There are of course other parks in Bleachingfield and Hallhill just outside the Town Centre and if you have decided to go rock pooling and paddling in the sea, there is a little play park by East Beach as well. And if that wasn’t enough, there is an adventure playpark area at the John Muir Park.
