The Covid Travel restrictions set out by both the Scottish and English Governments has been relaxed to allow people to travel across the country and across the border.
It finally means that after what seems like an eternity, people can now travel to Dunbar from farther afield than just the local area.
While there are still many restrictions to contend with, Bars, Cafes, Restaurants and non essential stores have all now been allowed to open and Dunbar has firmly become a viable place to go for a day trip in Scotland.
Travelling from Edinburgh
For the near 500,000 residents of Edinburgh, the relaxation of travel restrictions will now allow them to take the short 30 minute drive to Dunbar to take in all the sites and sounds of a great outdoor day trip. There is so much to see and do in Dunbar and while some of it is still under restriction, Dunbar has always been a town that caters for the outdoor enthusiasts.
Surfing opportunities are plentiful with some of the best places to surf in Scotland. For fans of walking who are sick of the local Edinburgh parks to walk through, Dunbar and the surrounding areas are the perfect place for a coastal walk. With castle ruins and heritage points of interest, not the mention the stunning sprawling views of coastline and some of the best beaches in Scotland, Dunbar truly is a must visit place for those looking for a day trip in East Lothian.
Travelling from Glasgow
While Dunbar may be a wee bit further to travel than Troon (for example), the weather, the beaches and the walks are in many peoples opinion far better. So if you can tolerate a wee bit further to drive, the rewards will definitely be worth it. With so much to see and do in the water and on land, Dunbar is a great place to visit from Glasgow.
Travelling from England
Now the travel across the border has been relaxed and residents of Scotland and England can cross over as they could pre-pandemic, Dunbar has once again become a viable place to visit for those in the North of England looking to discover great walks, history, culture and some of the best beaches in the UK.
From Berwick (for example), it is only a short 30 minute drive away. On the beautiful coast in East Lothian and with good transport links, Dunbar is a beautiful village with so many things to do.
